Living as Missionary Disciples released by USCCB in time for Convocation
Living as Missionary Disciples provides dioceses, parishes, and other church ministries with a road map to "new paths for the Church's journey" of evangelization. It is not intended to provide a ready-made program for a parish to follow or a detailed strategic plan to implement. Rather, it offers principles that dioceses and parishes can apply to their efforts in evangelization and missionary discipleship.
Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C., Director of the Catholic Apostolate Center and a Consultant to the USCCB Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis, noted the significance of the new document, "The four-fold evangelizing method of encounter, accompany, community, and send in Living as Missionary Disciples: A Resource for Evangelization summarizes the way of missionary discipleship of Jesus Christ. It is deeply rooted in Sacred Scripture as well as the reflection, teaching, and action of the Church on mission and evangelization over the centuries, especially during the last 50 years."
The Center has launched its own resource page to provide additional documentation and resources from the Holy See and the USCCB as well as its own to help parishes and organizations implement the principles discussed in the document.
The Catholic Apostolate Center also created an online resource page for the Convocation of Catholic Leaders featuring the official Convocation Guidebook in eBook format, which the Center assisted in developing, discussion resources, catechetical documents, podcast audio, webinars, and videos. Delegations that are planning to attend the Convocation in Orlando, and those who are going to be following along from home, are encouraged to visit the page to begin to discern and plan for this historic gathering and the impact it will have on our local Church communities.
The Catholic Apostolate Center is a ministry of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottines) - Immaculate Conception Province. It was founded in 2011 to respond to the needs of the Church through developing - in collaboration with dioceses and other institutions and organizations - formation programs for the New Evangelization; assisting pastoral leaders in deepening collaboration with one another; and providing formation opportunities for members and collaborators of the Union of Catholic Apostolate.
The Center takes its inspiration from the spirituality of St. Vincent Pallotti and achieves its goals through hosting conferences, seminars, webinars, and presentations as well as providing online and print resources.
