WASHINGTON, DC - The Catholic Apostolate Center is pleased to announce that it will be collaborating with both the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) World Youth Day Office and the Archdiocese of Washington on World Youth Day celebrations both here and abroad. This year, youth and young adults, ages 16 to 35, from around the world will gather to be a witness to our shared Catholic faith in Krakow, Poland, at the international celebration of World Youth Day 2016 (July 26-31). Here, in the United States, numerous stateside celebrations are being held in conjunction with the events in Krakow.

The Catholic Apostolate Center has launched a new web portal at: www.WYD2016.us which will feature formation resources and guides to the World Youth Day events in Krakow and in the United States.

These resources include:
  • Guides for leaders for the international pilgrimage, and for the first time ever, a stateside guide for leaders. These guides are published by the USCCB and hosted by the Center in e-book format online. Center Director, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C., contributed to the creation of each of these guides.

  • A blog series entitled #WYDWednesdays which will feature weekly posts designed to help prepare the faithful for the stateside and international events associated with World Youth Day. These posts will be written by bishops, pastoral leaders, and young adults from around the U.S.

  • Catechetical and spiritual formation resources for pilgrims before, during, and after the World Youth Day experience.
The Center will dispatch Curriculum Coordinator, Sarah Jarzembowski, to Krakow to gather on-the-ground updates and interviews with bishops, church officials, and pilgrims. These updates and interviews will be used stateside for spiritual formation of pilgrims gathering across the United States.

On July 30th, in Washington, DC, the Archdiocese of Washington along with the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Dioceses of Arlington and Wheeling-Charleston, The Catholic University of America, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Saint John Paul II National Shrine, Dominican House of Studies, and Catholic Student Center at University of Maryland will be hosting Krakow in the Capital.

The Catholic Apostolate Center will be a key partner and largest contributing sponsor for this event expected to draw nearly 2,000 pilgrims from the mid-Atlantic region. The Center will be providing staff, resources, and funding to ensure that the event will be a meaningful spiritual experience for all.

The Catholic Apostolate Center is a ministry of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottines) - Immaculate Conception Province. It was founded in 2011 to respond to the needs of the Church through developing - in collaboration with dioceses and other institutions and organizations - formation programs for the New Evangelization; assisting pastoral leaders in deepening collaboration with one another; and providing formation opportunities for members and collaborators of the Union of Catholic Apostolate.

The Center takes its inspiration from the spirituality of St. Vincent Pallotti and achieves its goals through hosting conferences, seminars, webinars, and presentations as well as providing online and print resources.
