Evangelizaton Start-ups
To assist young adults in responding to God’s invitation to discern and use their gifts in service to the mission of the Church, Apostles on Mission includes a mentored Evangelization Start-Up
Young Adults who participate in the Formation for the New Evangelization will have the opportunity to utilize their formation with a guided Evangelization Start-Up in their parish or other community setting. Discerning one’s gifts and the needs of the communities in which they are placed, the Young Adult participant will develop an Evangelization Start-Up Proposal to put evangelization into practice in their life.

Mentor Relationship:

Participant Requirements:
- Complete the Apostles on Mission application
- Approval of Evangelization Start-Up Proposal
- Monthly meeting with mentor and check-in on updates with the program.
The Evangelization Start-up will include:
- Gift Identification – The first step in the process, gift identification is done in order to determine the strengths of an individual in order to help the participant discern a particular apostolate. This is done through the completion of Living Your Strengths assesment tool
- Construction of a Ministry Proposal – Participants will meet with their local staff member, or relevant community leader to discern and develop together a proposal that will utilize the passions and gifts of the participant with the needs of the particular community.
- Collaboration with a Mentor – Each participant will be assigned a mentor team with knowledge and experience in the particular field of ministry being done. The mentors function as aids and supervisors through the process, meeting regularly, and available as an ongoing resource.
- Opening Meeting and Closing Dinner – Each cohort will begin the Evangelization Start-up with an orientation meeting. The program will conclude with a dinner and opportunities for reflection and sharing.
- Access to Start-up Funds - Participants will have the opportunity to apply for starter funds to assist in the activation of the evangelization start-up they undertake.
Mentor Relationship:
- If the start-up has a strong connection to the parish the Office of Young Adult Ministry will inform pastors that young adults from their parishes are participating
- The Office of Young Adult Ministry will personally invite clergy and lay parish leaders to serve as mentors depending on the participant’s parish and ministry area
- Mentors will be invited to view the online coursework
- Mentors will participate in the Apostles on Mission session on Evangelization Start-Ups, helping to guide the participant.
- Mentors will meet with participants monthly and be available by phone and email in between meetings on the participants initiative.
- An outline of content and mentor-guide will be developed to inform and assist mentors
