"God has not grown weary of us. Let us welcome Lent as the great season in which he reminds us: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery” (Ex 20:2). Lent is a season of conversion, a time of freedom." - Pope Francis' 2024 Lenten Message |

Hope from the Ashes: Preparing for an Evangelizing Lent
Each Ash Wednesday, millions of people—many who are not active in the practice of faith—will take time to receive ashes. Even more will engage in a Lenten custom in their personal lives such as Friday fasting. However, after Easter, this engagement often wanes, and the connection with the Church might be lost. This momentary experience, though, is still an occasion of hope for the Church. As the world moves through uncertain times, this annual phenomenon touches the heart and soul of so many people as it has for centuries: as a source of refuge, stability, and belonging in the midst of anxiety, crisis, and isolation. There is also hope that can come from the efforts of active Catholics and Church leaders who respond to this experience with boundless hospitality, radical warmth, and unconditional compassion. Drawing from his book, Hope from the Ashes, Paul will help people understand the phenomenon and offer ideas of what they can do to respond and accompany Lenten visitors, and in so doing, help transform “moments of return” into “milestones of faith” for countless men and women who will come for ashes.

Sparks from Ashes: Lent and Ash Wednesday as Moments of Evangelization
Each Lent, and especially on Ash Wednesday, an increasing number of inactive Catholics return to church, but only for a short time. There is truly something special about the Lenten season for those men and women who reconnect at this time of year. This webinar will explore that phenomenon and, even more importantly, what we can do to respond in an evangelistic and merciful way. Presented by: Paul Jarzembowski Coordinator for Youth & Young Adult Ministries & Assistant Director to the Secretariat of Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth (USCCB) |
The Bridegroom is Coming: A Reflection on Great and Holy Week
The image of Christ the Bridegroom is prominent in the liturgical and spiritual tradition of the Eastern Churches especially in the week leading up to Easter. In this webinar we’ll pause to reflect on the events of Great and Holy Week and their connection with our own prayer, sacrifice and our shortcomings during the Great Fast. Christ is coming for His Bride each one of us. Regardless of how much, or how little you’ve engaged in the Fast, this Holy Week is His invitation to you, to prepare to meet His Mercy and Love. Presented by Ann Koshute, St. Joseph's College of Maine |

Remaining in the Middle of Holy Saturday
The Triduum is often experienced as a linear process that moves from Good Friday by quickly passing over Holy Saturday to get to the joy of the Easter Vigil. Remaining in the middle of Holy Saturday, however, offers reflections about what it means to witness to the fragments of the unknown and contemplate how love enters the place where love does not exist. Join Mark Moitoza, D.Min, Vice-Chancellor for Evangelization, Archdiocese of Military Services USA (milarch.org) in this webinar discussing an important topic in the Church today. |
